REFORM: The NHS Challenge

The scenario

Students take leadership roles in organisations that are tendering to operate an Integrated Care Board (ICB) in England. To win, they must persuasively explain:

  1. How their organisation will improve healthcare outcomes and mitigate against future threats

  2. The capabilities their organisation will draw on to improve the current state of healthcare provision

  3. Why local residents should trust their organisation to run the NHS

What it involves

  • SWOT analysis

  • Scenario planning

  • Creating a video advert

  • Interviewing job candidates

  • Consulting healthcare experts

  • Participating in a televised debate

Who it’s for

Master’s students, particularly those doing MBAs or other degree programmes that cover multiple business disciplines. You’ll need a minimum of 12 students to participate.

What students say about it

‘In this course, we are constantly told strategy, strategy, strategy — this simulation gave us a chance to apply that theory in real-world settings, so we don't just understand the theoretical strategy but also how to implement that strategy.’ Olivia, UCL Global Business School of Health, MBA programme

Why I should consider it for my students

If you want to give your students the chance to practise their team-working skills in the context of a multi-disciplinary strategic project, this is the simulation to choose.

What it costs

The full simulation runs for two days (6 hours per day). It costs £8,000 + VAT for us to run it in-person, on your campus. We can also adapt the simulation to fit with your schedule, creating a half-day programme or a full-day programme. We price these bespoke sessions after discussing with you what you need.
